Jazz, Candlelight and You: Damani Phillips with Strings by Candlelight
Sun, Feb 14

Having performed and taught around the world, saxophonist Damani Phillips (UI Jazz Studies) comes to Noce for a very special “one night only” Valentine’s Day performance that exudes romance befitting the occasion. In a unique spin on the “candlelight concert” theme, Phillips will perform an intimate evening of his own compositions and arrangements all written for jazz quartet with strings. Presented in “concert in the round” format with the entire venue bathed in candlelight, the show’s environment will be elegant, intimate, romantic, and up-close-and-personal – a perfect reflection of the romantic spirit of the day. Phillips will be joined by Iowa’s finest jazz rhythm section and an 8-piece string section from across the state. Far above and beyond “just another jazz show,” this night promises to be a concert experience unlike anything else available. Two show time options available with different selections for each - including styles that span straight ahead jazz, hip hop, ballad, funk and Latin jazz (to name a few). A truly memorable listening experience that fully redefines the concept of what a candlelight concert can, and arguably should, be!
