The Listening Room is a series at Noce featuring Iowa songwriters, regardless of genre. --- For over 25 years Des Moines based Roots Rockers Brother Trucker have attracted Iowa audiences with story driven, Americana Rock, straight from the heart with no pretense. Gritty narratives couched in lean rock arrangements, balanced with dance floor burners that swing wildly close to the edge of the tracks. Only to be reigned in by a granite rock groove rhythm section. Founded by life- long friends Andy Fleming (songwriter) and Mike Fitzpatrick (lead guitarist) who met in 2nd grade in Davenport, Iowa. With Lyle Kevin Houge on bass for over 28 years, Keyboardist/Vocals Matt Jessen since 2010 and last but by no means least, the addition of drumming legend, Jim Viner, (formerly of Head Candy, High and Lonesome and The Diplomats) in 2012. Brother Trucker is one of, if not the longest, continuously working, original music band in Iowa. In March of 2023. The band recoded a live show, with the help and assistance of none other than Dave Deibler (*House of Large Sizes) owner/operator/rock godfather of the Cedar Falls, Iowa venue, The Octopus on College Hill. As well as his cohorts in music outreach and projects, Ralph Byrant and Octopus Sound engineer Ross Klemz. The band recorded 6 unreleased songs with the addition of Dave Zollo’s Parnell.
