“On Your Mark” positions trombonist Jackson Churchill at the starting line of a burgeoning career. A winner of three international jazz trombone competitions, Jackson radiates joy, reflection, and hope through his horn, and his original compositions showcase a distinctive lyrical voice. His debut album takes inspiration from experiences as a performer and full time educator living in Des Moines, Iowa, and the band consists of Jackson’s closest peers and mentors: Jon Ailabouni, Robert Espe, Mike Conrad, Steven Heffner, and Andrew Gjersvik. Written, recorded, and produced in his home state, “On Your Mark” is a thanksgiving of Jackson’s early triumphs and an anticipation of feats to come.
